August
2010: We never know what August will bring but it is good to
plan on heat alternating with thunderstorms. As in July,
diseases, pests, and heat stress all show up in our flower &
vegetable gardens as well as in the landscape. Maintenance
is key. This is also a good time to plant trees and shrubs. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
|
It is that time of
year when gardens are starting to look beaten up. Even
though they look bad, keep feeding & watering & they will
produce |
A common problem
on tomatoes is blossom end rot where the bottoms rot before
the top is ripe. Use Fertilome's Yield Booster to control |
New to us are
these metal and rock sculptures that are scattered around
the nursery. We also have birds and bugs in the same style.
So cute!!! |
The nursery is
loaded with plants just waiting for happy homes. The
selection is amazing right now. We have plants for every
need. |

Did you notice the
July-August rains along with the heat made weeds pop up
everywhere? We are using Hi Yield Killz-All & it works
great! |
Hi Yield Killz-All
works on weeds in areas where you want bare ground. Comes in
a Ready-to-Use, or concentrated to be mixed with water |
Another problem
the rains and high temperatures have brought is powdery
mildew. It is on garden and landscape plants. See right- |
Fertilome's
Landscape & Garden Fungicide will help get that powdery
mildew under control. Mix with water and spray on effected
leaves. |
|
July 2010:
This month started out hot and really miserable, then the
rains came toward the end of the month and cooled things
off. July is when it is important to keep your eye on your
plants for pests and an extra drink now and then to keep
them healthy. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
|
July is a good
time to see where you need a shade tree. Shade trees help
cool the house & yard. Check out our extensive selection. |
The dry
temperatures have dried up some of the food for native
critters. This elk fence will protect vulnerable plants. Buy
it off the roll & by the foot. |
Ants have been a
problem for a lot of people. Bonide Ant Killer Granules are
fast acting. Also kills fleas, crickets, cutworms, & more |
When you are tired
of fighting bugs, elk, and weeds, relax by sitting by one of
these gurgling fountains. Many styles to choose from. |
|

halos. Rob came to work in his winter shorts and declared it
a beautiful day! |
